Sidekick update: camera stays on
We have released (available in the next few days) a small update to the Cacophony Sidekick App for Android (3.11) and iOS (3.12) for the DOC AI Cam. This is part of an effort to improve the usability by first removing some annoying bugs. This release includes:
- When you are previewing the camera it will now stay on indefinitely. It used to freeze after a few seconds.
- The software update on the General Tab works in a more sensible way. The app can now quickly check if there is an update. If there isn't it will say "No update available" with a grey button, if there is it will say "Software Update" blue button and you can trigger an update manually by pressing the button. Previously it would go through a lengthy process of checking each package and while doing that it would say "updating software". So it seemed like the software was updating all the time. If the camera is connected to the internet it will update automatically if needed when it connects to upload recordings.
- The Connect to Camera button is working now. It had stopped working.
- Our description of the default recording window is now correct. The default records 30 minutes before sunset until 30 minutes after sunrise (this changes based on location and the time of year). We previously had sunrise and sunset round the wrong way. Thanks James for pointing that out.
We plan on making further improvements over the coming weeks. Please let us know if you have any suggestions.
